Don Carson Discovered
I had the privilege of Listening to Don Carson preached at St Andrews Cathedral for Tuesday morning, and Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Just astounding was his grasp of scripture and his very clear and scholarly exposition. Able to answer all sorts of questions and to keep the crowd coming and growing. Very fortunate to have a seat in the main underground and new auditorium, while hundreds had to watch by cctv in other rooms.
Tonight he will be at St John/St. Margaret's, Dover area, Singapore, to speak on "Can the Truth be Nailed?" as he addresses the Postmodern Issue.
Donald A. Carson is research professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. In 1989 Carson was voted Faculty of the Year at Trinity. Carson received the Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament from Cambridge University.
Carson's areas of expertise include biblical theology, the historical Jesus, postmodernism, pluralism, Johannine and Pauline theology. He can read about a dozen languages, and is fluent in French. Carson has written or edited over 45 books; The Gagging of God: Christianity Confronts Pluralism (1996) won the 1997 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association Gold Medallion Award in the category "theology and doctrine."
There is a very good note-taker and blogger who is making many of us very happy. She has faithfully posted quite remarkably, most of the lectures for the evening sessions at St.Andrews from Tuesday to Thursday. You may visit Denise and enjoy Denise's gift to us.

City of Pick Pockets
In April 2008 I received a set of pictures that showed why this City deserves this title. I am glad that the police wants to use more cameras to target these pickpocketers. But the most troubling thing for me is: why are the by-standers not stopping them...not alerting the victims... not caring enough to just scream "thief!"? I thought this was a mock up or staged. Until I checked and saw more reports in the internet and even a report by HK TV

Champion Cyclists' Coloured Jerseys
Before you buy your next coloured T-shirt for cycling in your neighbourhood, you should know what some colours mean to the world champion road-cyclists:
§ the yellow jersey (or maillot jaune) in the Tour de
§ The green jersey is worn by the winner of the secondary competition that is for the most consistent finisher: it generally goes to a sprint specialist.
§ The King of the Mountains is the third of the major competitions, the leader of which wears a red polka-dot on white jersey.
§ The Young Rider competition is fairly self-explanatory: the winner is the leading rider under the age of 26 in general classification. The Young Rider wears the white jersey.
§ The rainbow jersey is not a Tour de France award. The reigning World Road Race champion is entitled to wear the rainbow jersey.
The above notes are extracted from bbc.co.uk website.Coloured jerseys are awarded at the end of each stage with different colours signifying different awards. A yellow jersey is worn by the overall leader of the tour, which means the rider with the fastest overall time. A green jersey is awarded to the cyclist with the most sprint points gained during that stage. Points are won by finishing in the top three at the end of the stage as well as some intermediate points during each stage. A white jersey with red dots is known as the hill climber jersey or polka dot jersey and is awarded to the cyclist who gained the most climbing points. Points are awarded to the first few cyclists to reach the summit of each climb section in a stage, with more points awarded to more difficult climbs. There is also a white jersey for the fastest young cyclist (under 25). Quoted from pubquiz
